The Opportunity

Kwa Pele Foods is looking for an experienced and commercially minded Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to provide strategic financial leadership across its growing multi-site KFC franchise operation.

The CFO will play a critical role in ensuring financial sustainability, profitability and effective governance while partnering with the leadership team to drive business performance across the restaurant portfolio.

This is an opportunity for a finance executive who understands that, in a high-volume QSR environment, strong financial management must translate into profitable restaurants, disciplined cost control, operational efficiency and sustainable growth.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Provide strategic financial leadership and guidance to the executive team.
• Develop and execute financial strategies aligned with the company's growth objectives.
• Oversee financial planning, budgeting, forecasting and management reporting.
• Drive profitability and financial performance across the restaurant portfolio.
• Analyse restaurant-level financial performance and identify opportunities to improve margins.
• Monitor food costs, labour costs, operating expenses and other key QSR cost drivers.
• Provide commercial insights to support restaurant expansion, investment and operational decisions.
• Oversee cash-flow management, working capital and liquidity.
• Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting and management accounts.
• Strengthen financial controls, governance, compliance and risk management.
• Lead the annual budgeting and forecasting processes.
• Provide financial modelling and scenario analysis to support strategic decisions.
• Partner closely with Operations and other business leaders to improve business performance.
• Oversee and develop the finance function, ensuring strong financial capability across the organisation.
• Manage relationships with auditors, financial institutions, professional advisors and other key stakeholders.
• Ensure compliance with applicable financial, tax, regulatory and corporate governance requirements.
• Identify opportunities to improve systems, processes, reporting and financial efficiency.

Desired Experience & Qualification

• Relevant Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Commerce or a related field.
• CA(SA) or equivalent professional accounting qualification would be advantageous.
• Significant senior-level financial management experience.
• Proven experience in a multi-site, high-volume or operationally intensive business environment.
• Strong commercial and strategic financial management capability.
• Experience managing budgets, forecasting, cash flow and financial reporting.
• Strong understanding of cost management and profitability drivers.
• Experience leading and developing finance teams.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills.
• Strong business partnering and stakeholder management capabilities.
• High level of integrity, financial discipline and governance awareness.

Advantageous Experience

Experience within the quick-service restaurant, hospitality, retail, FMCG, franchise or other multi-unit consumer-facing environment will be highly advantageous.

The successful candidate should be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment where financial decisions directly influence restaurant performance, customer experience and business growth.
