Description
The beautiful and historic Renaissance Des Moines Savery Hotel is currently seeking a dynamic General Manager at our StepStone Hospitality managed hotel. The General Manager will lead the hotel's day-to-day operations, ensuring optimal financial and revenue performance and continuous improvements in guest satisfaction and associate morale.
The world class branded hotel is ideally located in downtown Des Moines Iowa, which makes it the perfect business and leisure destination.
The General Manager will oversee a full-service Food and Beverage operations, including a restaurant, bar/bistro, catering, and banquets operation that boasts over 12000+ square Ft. of meeting space.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Operations
- Oversee all hotel departments: Front Office, Housekeeping, Food & Beverage, Sales, and Engineering
- Lead, mentor, and develop department heads and team members
- Ensure compliance with Marriott brand standards and company policies
- Act as the primary decision-maker for daily operations
Financial Performance
- Develop and manage annual budgets, forecasts, and P&L performance
- Drive RevPAR, ADR, and occupancy through strategic initiatives
- Control labor and operational costs while maintaining service quality
Guest Experience
- Ensure exceptional guest service and high satisfaction scores
- Monitor online reputation and implement service recovery strategies
- Maintain strong presence in the lobby and guest-facing areas
Sales & Revenue Strategy
- Partner with Sales & Marketing to drive group, corporate, and transient business
- Build relationships with local businesses and community stakeholders
- Analyze market trends and competitor performance
Compliance & Asset Management
- Ensure compliance with safety, legal, and brand requirements
- Maintain property condition, preventative maintenance, and capital planning
- Work with ownership and corporate leadership on long-term strategy
Qualification
- 5–10+ years of progressive hotel leadership experience
- Previous General Manager or Assistant General Manager experience a must
- Strong knowledge of hotel operations, finance, and revenue management
- Proven leadership and team development skills
- Marriott brand experience strongly preferred
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational abilities

Additional responsibilities specific to you are:
· Must have a comprehensive knowledge of all hotel departments and functions.
· Must have a knowledge of applicable Federal, state, and local health, safety, and legal regulations.
· Must have good mathematical and computer skills.
· CPR training and first aid training preferred.

Salary Description
$145,000 – $160,000
