The Company
Lead the financial transformation of a successful New Zealand engineering business on an ambitious growth journey. The Group is on a deliberate path of growth across more than one jurisdiction in a very niche space.

This is a rare opportunity to play a pivotal role in enabling the business to grow significantly over the coming years through organic expansion, new market opportunities, and strategic acquisitions.

This is not a caretaker HOF position. The business requires a commercially astute and hands-on finance leader who can build capability, strengthen governance, and help transition the organisation from SME-scale reporting to a sophisticated, audit-ready group finance function.

The Role
Reporting directly to the CEO/Managing Director, you will join the SLT, taking ownership of the entire finance function across a complex multi-entity group operating in New Zealand and Australia. You will be responsible for financial operations, strategic planning, treasury, taxation, reporting, systems, and governance while acting as a trusted advisor to the executive leadership team and board.

This role offers genuine influence over strategy, capital allocation, profitability improvement, and long-term business growth.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead all financial operations, reporting, treasury, and cashflow management across the group.
• Deliver accurate and insightful monthly management and board reporting.
• Drive budgeting, forecasting, financial planning, and performance analysis.
• Partner with the CEO and leadership team on strategic decision-making and growth initiatives.
• Lead the transition to NZ IFRS reporting and statutory audit requirements.
• Manage banking relationships, funding facilities, and covenant compliance.
• Oversee taxation, transfer pricing, trust structures, and multi-jurisdiction compliance requirements.
• Build and implement scalable systems, controls, and governance frameworks.
• Lead finance transformation initiatives, including ERP selection and implementation.
• Mentor and develop the finance team while contributing as a key member of the Senior Leadership Team.

Your Profile
To be successful in this role, you will bring:

• CAANZ qualification with extensive post-qualification experience.
• Experience as a senior finance leader within a multi-entity environment.
• Demonstrated success scaling a business through significant growth.
• Strong experience with group consolidations, multi-currency operations, and complex financial reporting.
• Hands-on experience managing a business through a statutory reporting and audit transition.
• Deep knowledge of New Zealand taxation and financial reporting standards.
• Working knowledge of Australian accounting and taxation requirements.
• Experience with transfer pricing, intercompany structures, and trust administration.
• A blend of strategic thinking and practical execution.
• Outstanding stakeholder management and communication skills.
• Experience within engineering, manufacturing, industrial services or project based environments is highly desirable
• ERP implementation and finance transformation experience will also be desirable.
