About the Role
Our client, a highly-regarded hotel and event venue in Vereeniging, Gauteng , is seeking an experienced and innovative Food & Beverage Director to oversee all culinary operations. This role is essential for driving excellence in dining experiences, managing a diverse team of chefs, waitstaff, and bartenders, and ensuring profitability across all F&B outlets including restaurants, bars, banqueting, and room service. The ideal candidate will have a passion for gastronomy, strong leadership skills, and a comprehensive understanding of food and beverage management, menu development, cost control, and staff training. You will be instrumental in creating innovative culinary offerings, maintaining impeccable service standards, and enhancing the overall guest experience. Working within the vibrant setting of Vereeniging , you will have the opportunity to shape the culinary direction of our esteemed establishment and contribute significantly to its success. This is a key leadership position within our hospitality group.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute innovative food and beverage strategies to enhance guest satisfaction and revenue.
- Oversee daily operations of all hotel F&B outlets, including restaurants, bars, room service, and banqueting.
- Manage culinary teams, including chefs and kitchen staff, ensuring high standards of food quality and presentation.
- Develop and manage beverage programs, including wine lists and cocktail menus.
- Control food and beverage costs through effective inventory management, portion control, and waste reduction.
- Implement and maintain exceptional service standards across all F&B operations.
- Develop and conduct staff training programs to enhance service skills, product knowledge, and compliance.
- Manage vendor relationships and negotiate favorable pricing for supplies.
- Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and hygiene regulations.
- Collaborate with the Executive Chef on menu development and engineering.
- Plan and execute successful banquets and special events, coordinating with the events team.
- Monitor industry trends and competitor activities to maintain a competitive edge.
Requirements
- Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in Food & Beverage management, with at least 3 years in a Director-level role, preferably within a hotel or large-scale catering environment.
- Proven experience in menu development, costing, and financial management (P&L).
- Strong leadership, team-building, and motivational skills.
- In-depth knowledge of culinary trends, wine, spirits, and mixology.
- Excellent understanding of hygiene, sanitation, and health & safety regulations.
- Proficiency in F&B management software and POS systems.
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Culinary degree or equivalent experience is highly preferred.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and public holidays in Vereeniging .
