An icon of Milanese hospitality since 1932, Excelsior Hotel Gallia occupies a distinctive position in one of Europe’s most dynamic luxury destinations. Combining its historic Art Deco heritage with contemporary Italian design, the hotel sits alongside Milano Centrale at the heart of a city internationally recognised for fashion, design and gastronomy.

We are seeking an exceptional General Manager to lead this landmark Luxury Collection hotel into its next chapter.

This is an opportunity for an accomplished luxury hotelier who combines operational credibility with genuine commercial instinct. We are particularly interested in a leader who understands how to maximise the potential of a complex city hotel across transient, groups, meetings and events, food and beverage and luxury leisure demand, while protecting the individuality and sense of place at the heart of The Luxury Collection.

About the Role

As General Manager, you will take overall responsibility for the strategy, performance and culture of the hotel, creating exceptional experiences for guests while delivering strong and sustainable commercial results.

The successful candidate will bring the external orientation required of a leading Milan hotel. You will be equally comfortable engaging with clients, commercial partners and key stakeholders as you are leading the Executive Committee and hotel team.

The hotel’s proximity to one of Italy’s most important transport hubs, alongside Milan’s international appeal, creates a distinctive commercial platform. Key Leadership Accountabilities

As General Manager, you will:

• Lead the overall strategy and day-to-day operation of the hotel, ensuring exceptional guest experiences, strong financial performance and Luxury Collection brand positioning.
• Drive a sophisticated commercial strategy across rooms, groups, meetings and events, F&B and other revenue streams, with a clear focus on market share, profitability and sustainable growth.
• Bring particular strength in the groups and events segment, building relationships and ensuring the hotel competes effectively for high-value business.
• Partner closely with Sales, Revenue and Marketing leadership to strengthen demand generation, account penetration and the hotel's positioning within the Milan luxury market.
• Build trusted and transparent relationships with ownership and key stakeholders while maintaining disciplined focus on performance and long-term asset value.
• Lead, inspire and develop a high-performing Executive Committee and hotel team, creating an environment of accountability, engagement and excellence.
• Protect the individuality, heritage and distinct sense of place synonymous with The Luxury Collection while continuously evolving the guest experience.
• Act as a visible ambassador for the hotel and Marriott International within Milan and the wider Italian hospitality market.

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for an established General Manager or highly experienced senior hotel leader with a strong record of success in luxury, upper-upscale or comparable complex city hotels.

You will bring:

• Strong commercial credentials, with demonstrable experience driving revenue and profitability in competitive hotel markets.
• Meaningful groups, meetings and events experience, with clear understanding of the commercial importance and operational complexity of this segment.
• Experience within luxury hospitality and a sophisticated understanding of the expectations of an international luxury guest.
• Strong P&L capability and confidence working across Sales, Revenue Management and Marketing.
• Credibility in complex stakeholder and ownership environments.
• The presence and leadership maturity to inspire an established Executive Committee and large hotel team.
• Strong knowledge and understanding of the Italian market and business environment, with the cultural fluency to build relationships successfully in Milan.
• Italian and fluent English required
