As we continue to grow, we are looking for an experienced Hotel Manager who will take ownership of the hotel's overall success and future development. Someone with a proven track record in leading hotels, driving commercial growth and delivering strong financial results. Someone who combines strong commercial instincts with operational excellence and inspiring leadership, and understands that exceptional guest experiences, engaged teams and strong financial results reinforce each other.

The role

As Hotel Manager, you are responsible for the overall performance of The Usual Rotterdam. You lead the hotel's management team and take ownership of its financial results, guest experience, team engagement and operational excellence.

You bring a strong commercial mindset and work closely with our central Sales, Revenue Management and Marketing teams to identify opportunities and grow the business. You understand the local market, actively build relationships and help strengthen our local sales efforts. You see the potential in our F&B, meetings and event spaces and know how to turn them into destinations for both hotel guests and locals. From developing partnerships and attracting new business to organising events and creating reasons for people to visit, you play an active role in growing the hotel's revenue and local presence.

We operate with lean teams and a high degree of ownership. As Hotel Manager, you are expected to stay close to the operation, support your management team when needed and lead by example. You are visible, approachable and connected to both your team and guests. At the same time, you know how to empower your managers, make data-driven decisions and maintain a clear focus on the hotel's long-term performance. Your responsibilities include:

Business & commercial leadership

• Own the hotel's P&L and overall financial performance, with a strong focus on profitability.
• Work closely with central Sales, Revenue Management and Marketing teams to identify commercial opportunities and improve hotel performance.
• Actively support local sales efforts by building relationships with corporate clients, local businesses and community partners.
• Develop our Meetings & Events offering, strengthen its positioning in the Rotterdam market and drive new business.
• Take the initiative in organising events, programming activities and partnerships that attract both hotel guests and locals.
• Identify opportunities to grow F&B revenue and strengthen the hotel's position as a local destination.
• Lead budgeting, forecasting and business planning processes, translating performance insights into actions that improve results.

Operational excellence

• Lead the management team in ensuring smooth and efficient day-to-day operations across all departments.
• Maintain exceptional standards across guest experience, rooms, public areas and F&B.
• Drive operational efficiency, productivity and continuous improvement.
• Ensure compliance with legal, safety and company standards.

Build culture, every day

• Build, coach and inspire a high-performing management team and leadership structure.
• Foster a culture of ownership, accountability, collaboration and inclusion.
• Ensure team members have the training, support and confidence to deliver outstanding hospitality.
• Bring The Usual's culture and values to life through visible and authentic leadership.

Guest experience

• Create an environment where guests feel genuinely welcome and connected.
• Continuously improve the guest journey through feedback, innovation and attention to detail.
• Act as an ambassador for The Usual within the local community.
• Strengthen the hotel's role as a destination for both travellers and locals.

Sustainable hospitality

• Integrate sustainability into daily operations and decision-making.
• Support and deliver The Usual's ESG ambitions and initiatives.
• Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, reduce waste and create positive impact.
• Demonstrate that responsible hospitality and strong business performance can go hand in hand.

What you'll bring to the table

You are an experienced hospitality leader who has already demonstrated what it takes to successfully manage a hotel with full financial responsibility. You combine a strong operational foundation with an entrepreneurial mindset and a proven ability to grow revenue, improve profitability and develop high-performing teams.

You are naturally curious, energetic and people-oriented. You enjoy being visible throughout the hotel, know your guests by name and take a genuine interest in your team, the local community and what is happening in the city around you.
You bring:

• Proven experience as a General Manager or Hotel Manager with full P&L responsibility, preferably within a lifestyle or full-service hotel with multiple revenue streams.
• A demonstrated track record of improving hotel profitability and contributing to commercial growth.
• Proven experience managing multi-department hotel operations and leading management teams.
• Strong commercial understanding of Rooms, F&B and Meetings & Events, with the ability to identify opportunities and turn them into results.
• Experience working with central commercial teams while taking ownership of local business development.
• Solid financial management skills, including budgeting, forecasting, cost control and performance analysis.
• Experience leading, coaching and developing managers and teams.
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
• Confidence in analysing performance data and making informed decisions.
• An entrepreneurial mindset, combined with a hands-on leadership style and visible presence throughout the hotel.
• Passion for hospitality, food, people and creating meaningful experiences.
• Strong affinity with sustainability and responsible business practices.
• Fluency in English; Dutch is strongly preferred.
• You are legally allowed to work in the Netherlands.

• Yearly gross salary between €70,000 and €85,000, including holiday allowance, based on your experience, know-how & proven track record.
