Operations Director – Remote Camps/Hospitality Nouveau

JOB SUMMARY

The Operations Director provides strategic leadership for DUS’s Facilities Division, overseeing North Slope contracts and remote camp operations. This key leadership role is responsible for operational performance, workforce management, client relationships, service delivery, and financial results.

We’re seeking a driven, hands-on leader who excels at building high-performing teams, solving problems, making sound decisions, and delivering results in a fast-paced environment. Success in this role requires strong leadership, accountability, organization, and the ability to lead people-intensive operations with confidence and urgency.

Experience in hospitality, food service, facilities management, logistics, remote operations, or other service-focused industries is valuable, but proven success leading teams and managing operations are most important.

This is a full-time position based in Anchorage, Alaska at our headquarters office.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Operations Management, Hospitality Management, or a related field; equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be considered.
• 7 or more years of progressively responsible operations management experience, with 5 or more years of leadership experience overseeing managers, supervisors, and large workforces.
• Demonstrated success leading complex, workforce-intensive operations, preferably across multiple locations, contracts, or client accounts.
• Strong supervisory and management experience, including leadership of managers, supervisors, and frontline employees.
• Proven ability to recruit, organize, motivate, mentor, develop, and hold teams accountable.
• Experience addressing employee performance, employee relations, and workforce changes.
• Strong operational judgment and the ability to make timely, practical decisions.
• Ability to manage multiple locations, projects, priorities, and deadlines.
• Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Experience overseeing service delivery, staffing, budgets, costs, client expectations, or similar operational responsibilities.
• Ability to work independently, maintain a high level of activity, and consistently follow issues through resolution.
• Ability to travel regularly to North Slope and other assigned job sites and respond to operational matters outside normal business hours.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Must be able to pass pre-employment screens including drug test, criminal background check, and post-offer physical/fitness for duty evaluation.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Experience in hospitality, food service, facilities management, logistics, lodging, remote operations, or another service-intensive or workforce-intensive industry.
• Previous North Slope, Alaska, industrial, or remote-operations experience.
• Experience managing multiple contracts, client accounts, or geographically dispersed operations.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Provide overall leadership and direction for assigned North Slope contracts and remote camp operations, including managers, supervisors, and frontline employees.
• Establish clear expectations for service, safety, performance, communication, and accountability.
• Build strong teams through effective recruitment, selection, onboarding, training, mentoring, retention, performance management, and, when necessary, corrective action or separation.
• Maintain appropriate staffing levels, schedules, rotations, and relief coverage to meet operational and contractual requirements.
• Coach and develop managers and supervisors, address leadership gaps, and strengthen accountability at all levels.
• Assess organizational, leadership, and staffing needs across the division and take timely action to ensure the operation has the leadership capacity and workforce required to perform successfully.
• Remain actively engaged in daily operations and respond quickly to staffing shortages, service issues, employee matters, client concerns, and changing priorities.
• Ensure services are delivered safely, consistently, efficiently, and in accordance with company policies and contractual requirements.
• Develop and maintain strong client relationships and ensure concerns are addressed promptly and followed through to resolution.
• Maintain accountability for the operational and financial results of assigned contracts, including service performance, staffing, labor, budgets, costs, and corrective actions.
• Partner effectively with HR, Safety, Finance, Procurement, and other support departments.
• Make regular visits to North Slope job sites to engage with employees, site leadership, and clients and verify operational performance.
• Lead or support contract mobilizations, transitions, workforce changes, and operational improvement initiatives.
• Continuously evaluate operational processes, workflows, service delivery models, and business practices to identify opportunities for improved efficiency, quality, consistency, compliance, and operational performance. Champion a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Work is performed in office, remote camp, industrial, and field environments. The position requires frequent travel to North Slope locations and may involve severe weather, aircraft travel, uneven surfaces, stairs, and areas requiring personal protective equipment.

The employee’s work requires routine sitting, walking, standing, bending, and carrying items. The successful applicant must be able to complete the Company’s post-offer physical requirements.
