General Manager, UBER Eats – Italy Nouveau

**About the Role**:
The Uber Eats team in Italy is looking for an outstanding leader to head up our business in the country. As the General Manager for Uber Eats Italy, you will have the phenomenal opportunity to develop and scale our food delivery platform in one of our key markets globally. Balancing the needs of the consumer, the restaurant partner and the delivery partner is very intricate. Add to that the fact that we’re delivering a perishable product on demand, at extensive scale and you have a really exciting set of challenges to navigate. But food is also fun, and our users are passionate about eating tasty food, so you get to operate in a world that consumers love! We want to hire a General Manager that has a mix of operational excellence to get outstanding work done, the negotiation and teamwork skills needed to bring out the best from our restaurant partners, the strategic and creative thinking that’s required to develop outside of the box solutions to set us up for long-term success, and the resilience required to lead a fast-paced business and inspire a team of people. This is the ideal role for someone who has experience launching and scaling a business, leading a business or business unit and can dive from high-level to detail where needed. You are passionate about tinkering and iterating to acquire operational rigour and ‘Uber’ quality throughout the customer’s experience. Country strategy, marketing, marketplace efficiency, quality, P&L ownership and customer experience sit under the GM’s umbrella of responsibilities. Deeply understanding your market and building local partnerships is critical – this is where creativity meets leadership and execution head on. **What You'll Do**: – Lead a high-calibre team to scale our Uber Eats business in Italy. You have a passion for building the right skills and ways of working for success and communicate the vision in a compelling way.
– Define the mission of how we differentiate and develop our market strategy with your team; lead all aspects of the results-driven execution in your market. To do this you will develop a deep understanding of the broader platform and partner needs.
– Be responsible for the P&L and optimise growth and profitability on an ongoing basis. For this, you have a nuanced understanding of the P&L and individual levers to prioritise activities and develop market strategies.
– Bring operational excellence and continuously optimise where appropriate to improve margins and efficiency.
– Collaborate with the broader Uber team locally, regionally and globally ensuring growth, compliance and P&L optimisation.
– Partner with the global Product & Engineering teams to ensure local needs are met.
– Be present for and support internal and external stakeholder engagement for Uber Eats. Engage with local regulatory and political partners within the food delivery ecosystem.
– Run experiments: we’re looking for people who are curious and passionate about solving problems! Experimenting and finding unique solutions is at our core. **Basic Qualifications**: – More than 8 years of experience in business management, operations, strategy, and leadership at managerial level.
– Clear, confident and compelling communication; relationship building skills with the ability to make partnerships happen, from inception to execution.
– Data-driven decision mentality and sound business judgement – you understand what drives value for each group in our marketplace and can make key commercial decisions to reflect this.
– Effective project management – experience delivering on multi-layered projects with several stakeholders

– Committed to attracting and retaining the best talent from all backgrounds, while cultivating the power of a diverse organization. **Preferred Qualifications**: – Ideally, a background in both a smaller, more creative business as well as a larger organisation; Uber moves fast but also at scale, you need to be comfortable in managing your P&L and creative in how you get the most out of budgets available.
