Position: Hotel General Manager (Hotel Management Exp Essential)
Location: Montagu, Western Cape

Hospitality Hire is recruiting an exceptional Hotel General Manager for an exciting senior leadership opportunity in Montagu, Western Cape.
We are looking for an accomplished, commercially astute and hands-on hotelier who understands that exceptional hospitality is about far more than running the day-to-day operation.
This role is for a business-minded General Manager who can take full ownership of performance, lead with confidence, drive revenue, develop people and deliver an outstanding guest experience.
You will have genuine responsibility and accountability for the operation, with full P&L ownership and the autonomy to make decisions that positively impact commercial performance, service standards and long-term success.

THE OPPORTUNITY
You will take responsibility for:

• Overall hotel operations and performance
• Full P&L, budgeting and cost control
• Rate strategy and yield management
• Occupancy, ADR, RevPAR and GOP performance
• Driving exceptional guest experiences and service standards
• Leading, developing and retaining Heads of Department
• Sales, marketing and channel management
• Supplier and industry relationships
• Monitoring guest feedback and online reputation
• Monthly performance and owner reporting
• Refurbishment and asset-care planning
• Creating consistency, accountability and high standards throughout the operation.

WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
We want a GM who is visible, involved and commercially curious.
Someone who walks the property, knows what is happening with their guests and team, understands the numbers and spots opportunities or problems before they appear on a month-end report.
You should be comfortable making decisions, challenging performance and taking ownership without waiting for constant direction.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS

• 8–10 years’ senior hospitality management experience
• Strong experience within boutique or comparable hotel operations
• Proven senior Hotel General Management experience
• Strong P&L, budgeting and financial management capability
• Excellent understanding of revenue management and rate strategy
• Sound knowledge of hotel property management systems
• Strong understanding of sales, marketing and distribution channels
• Proven ability to lead and develop senior operational teams
• Commercially astute and financially disciplined
• Exceptional guest service orientation and attention to detail
• Confident, independent and highly accountable
• Strong relationship-building and communication skills
• A genuine desire to live and work in Montagu, Western Cape.

ADVANTAGEOUS

• Multi-property management experience
• Strong Food & Beverage management experience
• An established network within the Western Cape hospitality or wine industry
• Working knowledge of Afrikaans
• German language skills would be an advantage.

THE RIGHT PERSON
This is a long-term appointment for someone who wants to become invested in the business and the community.
We are looking for the GM who sees that occupancy is softer than expected for an upcoming weekend and immediately wants to know why and what can be done about it — not the GM who waits for the month-end report to identify the problem.

The role requires the flexibility expected of a senior hospitality leader, including evenings, weekends and being available when the operation requires it.
